Oswals accuse Anz , Yara of colluding on sale of burrup

May 12, 2011 by Reporter Leave a Comment

The Oswals left Australia after receivers were appointed in December and their Australian assets – including a private jet  , a million dollar mansion and their billion dollar company Burrup fertilizers – were frozen  and became part of a receivership in February.

Burrup fertilizers sale sham

Bids for Burrup fertilizers who has had Receivers appointed are understood to be due by May 30. Mr Oswal said  this was proof the bank wanted to force a sale below market price and indicated that ANZ and YARA ( the part owner of Burrup) had colluded to  get  s discount price for the billion dollar company under receivership.

“Given this ridiculously short period that international and local buyers have been given to consider a multi-billion dollar asset, conduct their due diligence, and submit a bid, it seems clear that the process is designed to eliminate genuine competitive buyers and facilitate the purchase by Yara at below market value,” he said in the statement.

Recievership bids for Burrup fertilizers

Mr OSWAL SAID “I reiterate my previous comments that I believe ANZ, PPB Advisory, and Yara (International, a company with a 35 per cent holding in Burrup) have colluded to force me to sell at a rock bottom price.

The sales process is being conducted exclusively by Flagstaff, a small Melbourne advisory firm,  Flagstaff is chaired by Charles Goode, an ex-chairman of the ANZ Bank. The oswals  said that  it is further evidence that the sales process is a sham designed to facilitate a hasty sale to Yara.

Cable TV wars sparked by Fetch TV

April 3, 2011 by Reporter 2 Comments

There is no denying there is a major upheaval coming through in the “cable channel Tv”  or “pay tv market” in Australia. The launch  of the new FETCH TV service  by  major ISP IINET  in Australia and also supported by other ISP’s like Internode  and ADAM internet has sent leading player “FOXTEL” the jitters. Foxtel has already  reacted by acknowledging this threat and  launching new offers  to  attract more customers , but is this going to be good enough for the market leader.

Foxtel has launched a $6* a week for 6 months on the Get Started Package, they also give you FREE* installation on a flexible 12 month plan. (check website for offers)

Will Fetch TV  grab Foxtel market share ?

FETCH tv has launched  with affordable packages starting as low as $14.95 for its Fetch  TV1 package. Fetch TV packages also features premium channels  that foxtel offers on its add –on packages.  For those consumers  who though $45  a month was a  rip off  to pay for just for a basic package , fetch TV will come as a nice surprise , as they  can  take just a $19.95  basic package  if they choose too. FETCH TV ALSO  offers  asian packages “ A bollywood package” ( Indian channel package) and a Chinese channel package  which will be very welcome  by many  new migrants as well as many australian Chinese and Indians  wanting to get to know their culture.

Fetch TV is a IPTV service. “The term ‘IPTV’ has been used by the ISP industry to loosely describe TV content delivered to laptops, but it lacks the functionality of true IPTV.” The new functionality of ‘true’ IPTV means consumers can watch streamed broadcasts on their television sets through a set top box, and will eventually have access to interactive services. iiNet will supply unmetered free-to-air and subscription TV to its customers through the broadband or phone line.

Un enforces No Fly zone – Who voted ?

March 20, 2011 by Reporter 1 Comment

A no-fly zone (or no-flight zone) is a territory over which aircraft are not permitted to fly. Such zones are usually set up in a military context, somewhat like a demilitarized zone in the sky, and usually prohibit military aircraft of a belligerent nation from operating in the region. – From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Un resolution goes yes  with NO FLY ZONE for Libya

Libya said late Saturday that it considered invalid a UN resolution on a no-fly zone over the country and demanded an urgent meeting of the UN Security Council after the air strikes by West powers.

The vote passed 10-0 with five abstentions in the 15 member council.

YES VOTE for  No Fly Zone

  • USA
  • AUSTRALIA
  • FRANCE
  • UK
  • CANADA
  • ITALY

NO or Abstain to vote For No Fly Zone Countries

  • CHINA
  • GERMANY
  • INDIA
  • RUSSIA
  • BRAZIL

UN Security Council Resolution 1973 authorises the use of all means necessary to protect civilians, including air strikes, and the creation of a no-fly zone to prevent Moamer Kadhafi attacking rebels. Mr Rudd has been campaigning for a no-fly zone over Libya for several weeks and says Australia was “banging the drum” for quite a while.

Middle East Uprisings

The Libyan revolt is the bloodiest of popular uprisings in the Middle East this year that have toppled Tunisian President Zine El Abidine Ben Ali and Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak.

There have also been anti-government demonstrations in Yemen, Bahrain, Jordan, Syria, Algeria, Iran, Iraq and Oman, calling for democracy and improved living standards.

Man charged for stopping thief’s break into his house

March 16, 2011 by Reporter Leave a Comment

Glenn Gregory, 53, is fighting two charges of unlawful wounding in the Carnarvon District Court over the late night bungled home break-in on February 28 last year by Juveniles.

The gang of seven juvenile children , aged 12 to 15, targeted Mr Gregory’s home because he was then the local ice-cream man and they wanted to steal lollies, drinks and other items apparently.

Carnarvon_Jetty,_Western_Australia

Mr . Gregory’s  Story

Mr Gregory’s  said he was woken up by  the noise of someone ripping the flywire off his bedroom window. He told officers  that when he went outside to investigate in pitch-black conditions and saw several figures , he chased the figures around the side of his house.

He said he saw some of them crash into a pole and outdoor furniture and trip over a concrete step in their hasty escape attempt.

The alleged victims claims Mr Gregory hit them with an iron bar or pole-like object. The ringleader of the group, who is now 16 and a sentenced prisoner with more than a dozen burglary convictions, yesterday testified via video link. The teen said he and another cousin had broken into Mr Gregory’s shed to steal food and drinks from his ice-cream van earlier that night. He said the bigger group later returned and admitted he wanted to break into the house to steal further items.

Police found a metal pole jammed under Mr Gregory’s garage, which the 16-year-old juvenile admitted was used to try to wedge the door open during the burglary. The pole was ruled out as a possible weapon because Mr Gregory’s DNA was not on it.

Members  of the public has raised mixed comments on different forums  if Mr gregory  went to far in trying to stop the burglars or then was it just a case of well deserved justice for the juveniles?
