The incredible rewards of supporting charitable causes

March 17, 2021 by Reporter Leave a Comment

Charitable causes have always had an important place in the world. While so many of us are truly blessed to have wonderful lives where we are in no immediate danger or disadvantage, there are so many individuals who unfortunately are not in the same position. As such, it ought to come as no surprise that charities have always had and will always have an important role to play in the world around us and the way that we navigate and appreciate the world for what it is and what it has to offer.

Individuals who are in a position of advantage and privilege often find themselves questioning if they should take the time and make the intention to donate to charity. For some individuals, the question is easy to answer and to follow through with meaningful and lasting action and impact. For others, that question sometimes comes with further questions. So, it certainly pays to acknowledge and understand the rewards that always come hand in hand with donating to charitable causes – and the lasting impacts that donations have.

Donating to charity

Making the active and conscious decision to donate to charity is a decision that is, above all else, the acknowledgement and intention of an individual in a position of privilege to donate and improve the lives of individuals (human or otherwise) and/or the world in a meaningful and lasting way. Donations to charitable causes are designed and intended from the ground up to effectively and successfully go into improving an aspect of life as we know it and for this reason they have always been important causes to support and they always will be important causes to support.

The rewards of supporting charity

The incredible rewards of supporting charitable causes are rewards that so often (if not nearly always) go hand in hand with the understanding that by investing some of your hard earned money into someone or something else meaningfully positive, you are improving the world in one way or another. That feeling of doing a good deed is one of the biggest and most important rewards. Additionally, donating to and supporting charitable causes comes with the reward of knowing that you are doing a good thing with no self interest involved in the process. And finally, there is also the awareness that charitable causes are such because they are important. And there is no better investment than an investment in bettering the world.

The overall goal of charity donation

For anyone and everyone who donates to charitable causes, the overall goal of charity donation is very much a goal that is intrinsically linked to collectively and individually working towards having an active hand in creating a better future for us all. The world can always do with more good. So, it makes all the sense in the world that the overall goal of charity donation and support is to continuously take steps towards improving the world in one way or another.

Tips to Running a Family Law Firm Business in Sydney

August 29, 2019 by Reporter Leave a Comment

law in australia

The practice of law is a respectable one indeed. No matter what type of legal professional in Sydney you are, solicitor or barrister. You’ll notice that people generally have huge respect for the legal profession. But one thing is important to keep in mind. Many legal professionals and practitioners work for large companies. Others run private businesses. Some work alone, others in small groups. So if you’re running a law firm, you must be a business person too. It’s not something to which you would have given much thought when you were struggling to pass those exams. In those days, the passion for the law would have carried you through. Yet, like it or not, law firms are areas where business and commerce intersect. To practice the legal profession profitably, you will need some business skills.

Business Tips for Family Law Businesses

Are you a solo practitioner? Or are you a partner in a firm of family law solicitors? Either way, you have business responsibility. You must make yourself and your partners if need be, aware of certain aspects of the running of the company.

  • You must take a certain amount of time in the month to assess the situation in your business. If you’re a partner in a company rather than running the company alone, there must be regular meetings. This will keep everyone up to date with business matters.

  • In the case of a partnership, you each should have clearly defined responsibilities. Unless it’s specifically agreed that one person takes care of business.

  • One person could be responsible for tracking  company profitability. Another could be responsible for overseeing the office staff employed by the company.

  • You must try to project the company’s profitability for a year. based on the income the company makes per month. You should make careful notes of the partners who bring in the most revenue. Also, note the clients who are most profitable for the company. Use company successes discreetly in marketing the company’s services.

Marketing Tips for Family Law Businesses

Professionals sometimes find hustling for business to be distasteful and sleazy. It doesn’t have to be that way if you’re doing it right. Reliable Family law specialists are always in demand. You must alert the relevant people in the community of your presence.

  • Remember, families, are at the heart of local communities. So make sure that the local community has an awareness of who you are and where you are. You could incorporate your company’s years of service into a slogan. Especially if those years are long enough, i.e. ‘serving the families of our community for 30 years.’

  • If your local area has a community newspaper. It’s no harm to slip in a discreet advertisement on a regular basis. It will put the word out that you’re available to help local families. It may also generate gratitude from the newspaper committee. It depends on revenue from local advertising to keep afloat.

  • Keep a cash float handy in case someone requests your company to sponsor or co-sponsor a local event. Such as a community fundraiser. Remember, they will display your name as one of the event sponsors. This gets your name out among local community members.

Plant the Seed and Reap Rewards

You may have joined the profession because of your passion for law. Or to do good work in the greater community. But those running their own business must develop business management and marketing skills. It takes a little work to get them. But they pay off in the end.

Plan of action in case of an accident

October 10, 2017 by Reporter Leave a Comment

clip_image002

Source

No matter how much of a responsible driver a person is, road accidents are sometimes unavoidable. Road accidents, even minor ones, can be overwhelming to your mind, if not to your body. While being a vigilant and responsible driver is a great way to avoid accidents, it is better to be prepared.

Having a contingency plan for such emergencies will help you keep yourself and others safe. Knowing what you have to do will help you reduce your reaction time to the situation, and when it comes to road accidents, a few seconds can make all the difference. If you ever find yourself in an accident, take the following steps to ensure a safe outcome:

Do not panic

As mentioned earlier, accidents can be overwhelming. It is commonly noticed that people experience a range of emotions right after they have been in an accident. If you experience something similar, make sure you remain calm. Staying calm will help you assess and handle the situation better.

Some people tend to panic and flee from the scene of accident. This is not advisable at all. If you are ever in an accident, never leave the accident scene before it is appropriate to do so. Running away from the scene of accident can have serious legal implications.

Make sure everyone is safe

If it is not possible or safe to get out of the car, make sure you, and everyone else inside the car is properly buckled in. If possible, contact emergency services immediately.

On the other hand, even if the accident is minor, it is your responsibility to first make sure everyone involved in the accident is unharmed.

Contact emergency services

Once you have made sure everyone is safe, contact the emergency services. If nobody requires medical attention, contact law enforcement and your preferred towing company in Perth. If possible, make notes of what happened at the scene. This will help you better illustrate it to the police and to your insurance company.

Bonus tip: Choosing a towing company in advance is a great idea to save yourself from hassle in an already difficult situation. Moreover, doing so would give you time to research and find the most feasible option.

Exchange information

This is crucial. Once you have made sure the emergency services are on their way, start collecting names, numbers, addresses, license plate numbers and insurance information of all the drivers involved. To be on the safe side, exchange the same information with other passengers involved in the accident. Keep in mind that the accident scene is an intense environment for everyone, and try to be cordial and cooperative while exchanging information.

However, being cordial does not mean you need to unnecessarily apologise to anyone. Never ever, intentionally or unintentionally, apologise or accept any mistakes that you think you may have done. Accepting mistakes may later translate into accepting the legal liability of the accident. Moreover, it might create problems with your insurance provider.

Get a medical check-up done

Even if the accident is a minor one and there are no visible injuries or pain in your body, it is advisable to see a doctor. Sometimes, internal injuries remain ignored, and turn into serious problems later on. It is best to be safe and get a doctor’s opinion.

Conclusion

A little preparation goes a long way, especially in case of emergency situations like road accidents. Keeping calm and being able to handle these situations responsibly will ensure your safety, along with the safety of those you care.

The Rewards Of Regular And Concise Performance Reviews

December 23, 2016 by Reporter Leave a Comment

work business australia

There are 2 reasons why business owners never sit through the performance reviews of their employees. The first is when they want to discipline someone, and the second is when they think someone deserves a pay increase. However, what they don’t know is that they have so much to gain when it comes to scheduling employee performance reviews on more than just these two instances.

Communicate Goals

When you sit down with your employees more than once every year, you are technically reminding employees what you expect of them in a way that motivates them to achieve this. It is possible that you may have begun to notice changes in the employee that you would like to discourage. This is the perfect time to do that before it escalates into something serious, resulting in you having to call in crisis control.

For Feedback

Regular performance reviews give employees the perfect opportunity to give you feedback on what your employees need. It helps you in correcting bad behaviour before it ultimately affects the bottom line of your company. You cannot just send in an email that says the employee is not meeting the set standards. You must review performance and set a training period for them and encourage them to attend it as part of their professional development which will help them throughout their career.

When Firing an Employee

In case you are faced with the task of terminating an employee, you can always offer them proof that they had an idea that this was coming. Your case is made strong by the regular performance reviews that you conduct so that the employee does not challenge your termination.

Set New Goals for Over Achievers

Certain employees perform above and beyond the set standards. The regular performance reviews give you a chance to set higher goals for them, and you must encourage them to advance in their career at your company if you really believe that they have the potential to do great things. If a person thinks he/she is wasted in a place where their talent is not recognized, he/she is likely going to move elsewhere.

Appreciate the Hard Work

It is important that you praise employees who consistently do a great job. By offering positive feedback on a regular basis, you will also make your employees feel like they are being truly appreciated. Your win is that now the employee is going to be encouraged to work harder and shall remain loyal towards you as they are made to feel good about their hard work.

Their Feedback Counts just as Much

Mostly, employee performance reviews are created to give feedback to the employees, and employees are also encouraged to share their thoughts about the company as well. It is important that you listen to the concerns and comments of these people. You must also consider using the valuable information you now have to improve operations.

The Benefits of Outsourcing Vehicle Maintenance

April 20, 2014 by Reporter Leave a Comment

car repair.

For a reliable and roadworthy vehicle, regular maintenance needs to be applied to ensure the safety of drivers is not compromised. Vehicle safety and reliability is a major concern for fleet managers, but the headache-inducing task of managing weekly and monthly checks on all fleets can be even more distressing – not to mention time consuming and costly.

The quality of the vehicle’s tyres, brakes, engine oil and fluid levels cannot be overlooked. Whilst some factors may seem irrelevant or easily delayed, it’s this neglect and postponement that will run the risk of fleet vehicles needing major maintenance. Poor vehicle management and significant expenses, combined with having to take your vehicles off the road screams disaster for fleet managers.

To alleviate the risks on your business and fleet vehicles, businesses are opting to outsource maintenance and vehicle management. As the day-to-day tasks of running your business add up, fleet managers are fast realising the positive effects outsourcing has. These benefits of outsourcing maintenance requirements are tied to measureable and intrinsic results. We take a look at how it’s a dependable solution to keeping your fleet on the road.

Gets You Back On the Road – Faster

One of the biggest benefits of outsourcing fleet vehicle servicing is your vehicle is being maintained by a team of qualified experts. Vehicle servicing may not be the core area of your business, but it is for someone else. Repairs will be arranged promptly and paperwork completed to ensure your vehicle is back on the road as fast as possible, in the safest condition with minimal productivity losses to your business. These guys know what they’re doing and will put their resources, energy and TLC into ensuring the vehicles are running smoothly.

The process in getting the vehicles roadworthy is fully managed, with minimal involvement required from you or your drivers. This ensures a time saving process for a fleet manager’s busy schedule.

Improved Company Focus

With less time wasted on worrying about regular vehicle checks, your company’s focus can stay on track for its core business. It’s easy as a fleet manager to get bombarded with constant quality improvements and enhancing your vehicles and this can chew up valuable time and money. Outsourcing vehicle servicing enables you to achieve your fleet’s goals and maintain more administrative and financial control.

Redirected Resources and Local Outsourcing

With the opportunity to redirect personnel and financial resources from non-core business activities to your company’s primary business, human resource productivity is significantly improved. Many companies opt to outsource because they don’t have the required resources within their own company from shop equipment to personnel, expertise and training. Getting a qualified team to take care of this will enhance driver/user satisfaction.

Fleet vehicles that are serviced locally will have the advantage of cutting down the time it takes for drivers to drop off and pick up vehicles. Most servicing companies will have a wide range of preferred suppliers to ensure you can choose one in a convenient location for local maintenance.

Managed Accounts and Cash Flow

Accounts are consolidated into one easy-to-manage monthly invoice when fleet maintenance is outsourced. Instead of drivers having to pay for their vehicle repairs at the point of service, it will be invoiced to your company workshop. Managed monthly accounts saves time with less paperwork and stress and ensures a smoother cash flow.

Vehicle servicing companies will carry all parts required for your fleet vehicles and inventory costs. No parts will need to be paid for by your business until it’s used on your fleet thus, increasing fleet utilisation resulting in increased cash flow and reduction in operating costs.

High-Quality and Approved Servicing

Once vehicle maintenance is outsourced, a team of experts will monitor the quality of any repairs and servicing done. Before any work can commence quotes are signed off by management, checked and approved.

Having repairs completed to the highest of quality by reputable people in the trade ensures money, and time, is saved by unnecessary work. Most companies follow the strictest standards in the industry and this quality assurance gives you a quick turnaround in repairs and improved reliability for your drivers.

Big Fleet Discounts

To further improve your cash flow, fleet management companies have the power to negotiate fleet discounts for vehicle repairs. These substantial discounts allow you to enjoy well-earned savings regardless of the fleet size.

Maintenance Alerts

These days, no one has the time to remember when their vehicle is next due for a service and when managing a fleet business remembering these things can be even harder. Email or SMS reminders are sent to all your drivers when maintenance is due so there are no excuses for services to be missed.

Servicing your vehicles on time is the most important factor to keep your fleet running in a perfect condition. This helps you to avoid nasty surprises and expensive repairs down the track by fixing any issues early.

Records and Reporting

As a fleet manager, your business is run with operational and financial goals to meet so having access to all vehicle operating costs, repair costs and turnaround, KPI’s and downtime is crucial. This in-depth reporting will be provided by the outsourced company after the completion of each job for you to update the fleet reporting system.

A clear picture will be painted on all maintenance and repairs completed across your fleet and this information accessible 24/7. Having accurate documentation will positively help in the resale of any vehicles down the track.

Reduced Risks

Above all, the safety of your drivers is priority so providing them with roadworthy vehicles is a must. The facility and vehicle risks associated with lack of maintenance operations is significant and includes various federal, state and local laws. Working directly with a trusted repair service will ensure your company is compliant with the fluctuating changes in regulations and technologies, and ultimately reduce risks and expenses for you and your drivers.

The 2014 Real Estate Forecast

February 21, 2014 by Reporter Leave a Comment

real-estate-australia

The Australian real estate market is currently only second in the world behind that of the US market in its activeness for investors. Last year saw plenty of strong investment conditions for home buyers and although many are predicting a burst to the Australian housing bubble in 2014, there are still plenty of reasons for prospective home buyers to be optimistic this year.

How Did We Get Here?

Last year we saw great growth across the country with home values rising substantially in nearly every major Australian city. Sydney saw a 15.1 percent increase while Perth was up 9.9 percent and Melbourne rounded out the year at 8.5 percent growth. This rise was due in large part to population growth, low interest rates and increases in consumer confidence. These factors all combined for a perfect mixture that lead to a much higher housing demand than previous years.

What to Expect

There are a few different polarizing views when it comes to the future of the housing market in Australia for 2014. First, we have American investment guru Harry Dent’s less than happy predictions. Dent has claimed credit for predicting the US boom and subsequent bust and the deflationary decade in Japan. He has recently made the rounds promoting his new book, The Demographic Cliff and is predicting a decline in the Australian market at anywhere from 30 to 50 percent. While that is an alarming prediction for most, Dent also states that there is a wildcard at play with China’s ultra wealthy investors who are in part to thank for the boom in 2013. If they keep investing it might help to keep Australia’s housing prices up.

Many other analysts like APM chief economist Andrew Wilson, are predicting a slowing in the housing market overall but nothing to the extent of Dent’s numbers. Wilson expects things to slow considerably in the market for both Sydney and Melbourne, of which both saw house price growth peak in December of last year. He also sees plenty of growth in the cards for both Perth and Brisbane. The market in Brisbane is still in the pivotal "catch-up" phase and is primed to reach new heights as Queensland sees a jump in the economy and an influx of job seekers. This is great for perspective investors in these regions.

Other market analysts are stating that Australia is still in the growing stage of the property cycle, which was bottomed out in mid-2012. This research shows that the housing market is moving into the "expansion" stage meaning more growth overall and an increase in property prices. Echoing predictions made by Wilson, this research shows that many states and cities will see different levels of growth but growing is they key factor here not a major decline.

What Does This Mean for You?

For the average home buyer this means that settling down and making that big purchase is still a good idea. Even with the possibility of the market slowing in certain urban areas this change will have little effect on the average home buyer as interest rates should stay low. If you are looking for great mortgage rates and customer service contact the expert team at State Custodians Mortgage today. As a leading non-bank lender, State Custodians Mortgage is committed to providing access to high quality home loans at market leading interest rates. They can help put you one step closer to taking advantage of the housing market while it is still on this generous uphill curve.

Diggers & Dealers Conference 2011- Highlights

Golden diggers and dealers Shovel

For a forum that started with a dozen blokes in a pub in the West Australian mining town of Kalgoorlie-Boulder, Diggers and Dealers has morphed into the largest mining conference of its type in Australia and the third largest in the world.

The dealing and digging at Kalgoorlie WA

Iron ore company Gindalbie Metals’ has earned it the Dealer of the Year award at the Diggers and Dealers conference in Kalgoorlie due to managing  a clever relationship with Chinese steel maker Ansteel

The digger of the year was WA-based miner Independence group which has made major developments on their mines near Kambalda in the Goldfields.

Small miners complained  that the big miners BHP Billiton, Rio Tinto, and Xstrata – will be able to manipulate the MRRT’s rules to claim depreciation of their existing multi-billion-dollar mining assets against their expected MRRT liability, and almost completely negate the effect of the tax on their profits.

diggers and dealers WA conference 2011

Gold miner Ramelius Resources is cashed up and ready for acquisitions. Ramelius’ shares have jumped more than 300 per cent in 2010/11, from 39 cents.

The dealermaker award went to Ivanhoe Capital Corporation for its success in developing gold and coal projects in Mongolia and Queensland.

KEITH JONES, MANAGING PARTNER DELOITTE (WESTERN AUSTRALIA), on china’s growth

"The going out policy initiated by the Chinese government at the turn of the century resulted in a surge of direct Chinese investment, up from $500 million in 2000 to $59 billion in 2010. While Australia remains one of the preferred destinations for Chinese investments, other regions such as Africa and Latin America have seen accelerated inflows of Chinese capital over the past three years."

Joseph Riggio, of Casimir Capital, says cashed up investors in New York, Boston and Chicago want to diversify out of the floundering US dollar and are increasingly looking to ASX listed miners to do that. He said "There’s a perception that Australian companies represent a better value than their Canadian counterparts because of their focus on cash flow,"

Man charged for stopping thief’s break into his house

March 16, 2011 by Reporter Leave a Comment

Glenn Gregory, 53, is fighting two charges of unlawful wounding in the Carnarvon District Court over the late night bungled home break-in on February 28 last year by Juveniles.

The gang of seven juvenile children , aged 12 to 15, targeted Mr Gregory’s home because he was then the local ice-cream man and they wanted to steal lollies, drinks and other items apparently.

Carnarvon_Jetty,_Western_Australia

Mr . Gregory’s  Story

Mr Gregory’s  said he was woken up by  the noise of someone ripping the flywire off his bedroom window. He told officers  that when he went outside to investigate in pitch-black conditions and saw several figures , he chased the figures around the side of his house.

He said he saw some of them crash into a pole and outdoor furniture and trip over a concrete step in their hasty escape attempt.

The alleged victims claims Mr Gregory hit them with an iron bar or pole-like object. The ringleader of the group, who is now 16 and a sentenced prisoner with more than a dozen burglary convictions, yesterday testified via video link. The teen said he and another cousin had broken into Mr Gregory’s shed to steal food and drinks from his ice-cream van earlier that night. He said the bigger group later returned and admitted he wanted to break into the house to steal further items.

Police found a metal pole jammed under Mr Gregory’s garage, which the 16-year-old juvenile admitted was used to try to wedge the door open during the burglary. The pole was ruled out as a possible weapon because Mr Gregory’s DNA was not on it.

Members  of the public has raised mixed comments on different forums  if Mr gregory  went to far in trying to stop the burglars or then was it just a case of well deserved justice for the juveniles?
