Australia’s Traditional Industries: Examples Of Successful Digital Transformation

July 5, 2021 by Reporter Leave a Comment

Digital transformation has recently been proven to be successful, even in more traditional industries. The technology that is available has increased levels of digitisation around the country, often in industries where we wouldn’t have thought it possible. Looking at a few of these sectors below, we can see how adapting to digital technology will not only increase efficiency but drive improved profit margins overall.

digital money online

Farming and agriculture

Many farmers believe that more traditional ways of farming are best, however there is a new generation of agricultural students that are being exposed to new farming technologies. These technologies are expected to help ease and streamline farming and agricultural industries and drive them forward into the future. For those looking to digitise their business, there is a wide range of new technologies to adopt.

A strong case is being made at expos around the country for the integration of digital technologies into farming and agricultural practices. These expos showcase the latest technology on the market, from remote cattle station tech to state-of-the-art vineyard processing equipment.

Activities and entertainment

Across each generation we see a gradual move toward more technological and digital forms of entertainment. For boomers this may have been the television, and for millennials it was the introduction of the smartphone. Children today learn how to interact with ipads before they learn how to read. Companies like Sony have dominated the market with the introduction of their online gaming hub where players can interact with other like-minded people from around the world. A far cry from the days of Atari and Nintendo 64.

Online entertainment has revolutionised the way that we interact with people. Digital environments like those created by online casinos and social media networks have successfully adapted the ways in which we find and create experiences. We have more entertainment available to us than ever before, and all at the touch of a button.

Simplifying government communications

When the MyGov portal was released in 2013 the focus was to provide basic functions by securely connecting Australians to government services. By providing Australians with a digital GovID that is verified and secure, digitisation has remarkably improved the convenience of accessing government services for all. Where you would once have to visit multiple offices, which was not always convenient for those living in remote and rural areas, you can now interact directly from the comfort of your own home.

The digital transformation process for a range of government departments has also improved their communications to the public. The ATO now posts regular updates about important changes to the rules regarding taxation and superannuation via the MyGov site, which helps many Australians to keep a firm grasp on the current laws. Where you would once have to consult a tax agent who would check the laws in massive printed volumes, you can now access everything you need directly from the portal, providing both independence and freedom for those who wish to handle their own tax affairs.

Automotive sales industry

Something as simple as shopping for a new or second-hand car has been transformed by digitalisation. A search of Australia’s CarSales website will provide you with an extensive range of new or second-hand cars for sale in your area. This form of digital transformation is a great hybrid, as it doesn’t diminish the need for car dealerships and allows for the personal connection involved in the process of buying a car. Even those who still prefer the traditional method of visiting a dealership will research the closest vendor and explore their options via a smartphone.

No matter what industry you work in and where you are located, you can experience the positive effects of digital transformation. From farming to gaming, there’s no stopping this tech tidal wave of improved productivity and increased accessibility.

World Cup fever – have you got it yet?

June 13, 2014 by Reporter Leave a Comment

It’s only days now until the first match of the Brazilian World Cup. How excited are you? The general opinion is that that the Socceroos have lucked out in terms of the Group draw; in fact Group B has been described as the group of death in some sections of the media. The Aussie team is up against Chile, Holland and Spain, all of which have a stronger World Cup history than the Socceroos.

fifa world cup betting soccer smaller

However, that hasn’t stopped more than 40,000 tickets to the World Cup matches being sold to Autralian fans who will be making the trip over to Brazil this month. In fact, more tickets have been sold to Australians than to England fans.

But what if you haven’t put a huge chunk of your savings into a trip to Brazil – how will you approach watching the World Cup? At the moment, it’s not looking that likely that the Australian team will see it through the Group stage.

If you don’t know much about football, then watching a big tournament can be a little daunting if you don’t know what’s going on. However, if you get a grasp of the basics of the World Cup, it’ll make watching the games a lot more interesting, which is handy when that’s what all your mates are doing. There are 32 teams that have made it to the World Cup finals, divided into four groups of eight. During the group stage, each team will play the other three teams in its group. At the time of writing, the odds on Australia winning Group B are around 33/1, whereas the odds on Spain winning it are around 4/6. The winners of each group go through to the elimination stage, along with the runners-up.

We’re then into the knock-out round – where each game could be a team’s last. For people who are only mildly interested in the event, even if Australia hasn’t made it through the group stage, this is where the tournament gets much more exciting. In the second round, each of the Group winners plays a runner-up from another group. Then it’s the quarter-finals, with the top eight teams playing each other. Following the semi-finals, there’s the match between the two losing semi-finalists for third place, followed by the final, which will take place in Rio de Janeiro on 13 July.

One way to really tune your interest in a match is to get a bet on the outcome. With mobile betting apps so easy to download and use today, it’s no surprise that the majority of people now choose to place their bets this way. And bets on the World Cup could be free ones if you sign up at a site like bet365, where there’s a 100% bonus on the first deposit you make as long as it’s $20 or more – up to a value of $200.

Whatever way you look at it, this year’s World Cup will be an exciting tournament, and you never know, a free bet on the Brazilian World Cup could pay for you to go and see the 2018 World Cup in person!

Samantha Stosur takes US open cup

September 12, 2011 by Reporter 1 Comment

Samantha Stosur finished the US open in style beating the reigning American favourite Serena Williams. Stosur, 27, from the Australian state of Queensland beat Williams 6-2, 6-3 Sunday to become the first Australian woman in 31 years to win a major singles title.

Williams was the hot favourite to win the cup but  Ninth-seeded Stosur had other plans and beat Serena Williams on American soil. The match was won in one hour and 13 minutes in front of 23,000 people on Arthur Ashe Stadium.

This is another great victory for Australia after Cadel Evans recently claimed the Tour de france cup

The match was not without controversy with Williams berating the chair umpire after receiving a one-point penalty for verbal hindrance.

What Serena Williams said to umpire Asdaraki

Williams called the chair umpire a ”hater”.

”If you ever see me walking down the hall, walk the other way,” she said.

"Aren’t you the one who screwed me over last time?,” Williams bellowed at Umpire Asdaraki. "That is totally not cool.”
