1) Good salary

Money is not everything in a job but many roles in mining allow you to earn a decent salary well above minimum wage. Combined with the relocation package, there are some great benefits to working in mining. The hours can be long but employees are often rewarded with days off in lieu allowing them to spend more time with the family.

2) Travel

If you are one that enjoys travelling, the mining industry is for you. Those working as professionals in the industry move from place to place not just within the country you are based in, but all over the world where there are mining areas. There are many expatriate all inclusive packages, meaning it is very affordable and financially beneficial to move to a different location.

3) Change jobs easily

Mining allows you to develop your career in different fields. You can start off as a graduate and then branch out into different areas of mining. There is always the potential for training the different tools such as driving the big diggers, using the commercial generators and handling other large machinery. Samantha Stosur finished the US open in style beating the reigning American favourite Serena Williams. Stosur, 27, from the Australian state of Queensland beat Williams 6-2, 6-3 Sunday to become the first Australian woman in 31 years to win a major singles title.

Williams was the hot favourite to win the cup but  Ninth-seeded Stosur had other plans and beat Serena Williams on American soil. The match was won in one hour and 13 minutes in front of 23,000 people on Arthur Ashe Stadium.

This is another great victory for Australia after Cadel Evans recently claimed the Tour de france cup

The match was not without controversy with Williams berating the chair umpire after receiving a one-point penalty for verbal hindrance.

Williams called the chair umpire a ”hater”.

”If you ever see me walking down the hall, walk the other way,” she said.

"Aren’t you the one who screwed me over last time?,” Williams bellowed at Umpire Asdaraki. "That is totally not cool.”

Hollywood star and “Telethon guest of honour John Travolta” dashed back to the United States last night after receiving news that pregnant wife Kelly Preston had gone into labour. but there are plenty of other stars that are attending like Actor Hugh Sheridan, from hit TV show Packed to the Rafters, and Better Homes and Gardens hunk Rob Palme , BooBoo Stewart, the 16-year-old American star of Twilight: Eclipse and the yet-to-be released Twilight: Breaking Dawn films.
