Olympian stuff ups – news update

In a  temporary setback  to the Olympics , all the locks to the London’s Wembley stadium’s internal locks have been changed, costing tens of thousands of dollars.

Officials announced a set of keys that could once open London’s Wembley Stadium was lost with the  search for the lost keys by Scotland yard proving unfruitful. The Police said there isn’t a security concern. and the stadium  will host the soccer finals for the Olympics.

TWITTER INSULT INVESTIGATED

The Twitter insult against British diver Tom Daley has attracted the attention of police. In Britain, tweeting messages considered menacing, offensive or indecent can lead to prosecution.

 

Australian boxer “Damien Hooper” warned not to wear the traditional  Aboriginal flag on his t-shirt

He said that he did it for his people and his heritage, but officials have warned the Olympic  Australian boxer Damien Hooper not to repeat his entry to the Olympic ring with the Aboriginal flag emblazoned across his chest.

In separate Olympic news  while Australia is banning its indigenous athletes from wearing their flag Sarah Attar, Saudi Arabia’s other female Olympic athlete, is expected wear a head scarf when she competes in distance running and so is a taekwondo candidate from the  middle east

Samantha Stosur takes US open cup

Samantha Stosur finished the US open in style beating the reigning American favourite Serena Williams. Stosur, 27, from the Australian state of Queensland beat Williams 6-2, 6-3 Sunday to become the first Australian woman in 31 years to win a major singles title.

Williams was the hot favourite to win the cup but  Ninth-seeded Stosur had other plans and beat Serena Williams on American soil. The match was won in one hour and 13 minutes in front of 23,000 people on Arthur Ashe Stadium.

This is another great victory for Australia after Cadel Evans recently claimed the Tour de france cup

The match was not without controversy with Williams berating the chair umpire after receiving a one-point penalty for verbal hindrance.

Williams called the chair umpire a ”hater”.

”If you ever see me walking down the hall, walk the other way,” she said.

"Aren’t you the one who screwed me over last time?,” Williams bellowed at Umpire Asdaraki. "That is totally not cool.”

Australia Made proud by Cadel Evans Tour De France win

Cadel Evans is  the first Australian to win the world’s toughest cycling race “ the tour de france”.

At 34 he’s also the oldest winner of the Tour in nearly 90 years and he had a word or two in his wining commentary for all his skeptics, who had doubted him.

His achievements on the cycling race at  Tour de France is now set to ensure his status as a barrier-breaking legend of Australian sport.  "A few people always believed in me, I believed in me and here we are today," he said after crossing the finish line.

Tour de France – Cycling race

The Tour de France is an annual bicycle race held in France and nearby countries. First staged in 1903, the race covers more than 3,600 kilometres (2,200 mi) and lasts three weeks. As the best known and most prestigious of cycling’s three "Grand Tours", the Tour de France attracts riders and teams from around the world. The race is broken into day-long segments, called stages. Individual times to finish each stage are aggregated to determine the overall winner at the end of the race

According to the website http://www.cadelevans.com.au/ Cadel was born on the 14th February 1977 at the Katherine Hospital, Katherine, in the Northern Territory (Australia) and is currently Living between Barwon Heads, Victoria, Australia half the year and  Stabio, Switzerland the other half.
